Welcome to our school website. As you visit our pages, I hope the information gives you some idea of our school’s character, its strengths and our set of values that underpins everything that we do.
Harrold Primary Academy is a 'new' school formed on the site Harrold Lower School and Harrold Priory Middle School, opening its doors to the pupils aged 4 - 11 years on September 1 2017.
Through our dedicated and enthusiastic school team, Harrold Primary Academy will continue to have a well-deserved reputation for the significant contribution that it makes to the personal and academic achievement of all of its pupils. We firmly believe that all children should be encouraged and supported to achieve their full potential through attention to their individual needs.
Our highly committed and professional staff work hard to ensure that high standards are maintained whilst at the same time delivering stimulating and engaging lessons which inspire and enthuse the children. We also believe in challenging and supporting children through a curriculum that is underpinned by structured target setting process and effective tracking of children’s progress. The previous Ofsted reports of the two schools (Harrold Lower School - February 2012 and Harrold Priory Middle School -September 2013) graded each of the schools as Good.
We believe that a child’s learning takes place both in and out of the classroom. Extra-curricular activities are extremely popular with the children and these have included Choir, Recorders, Board Games, Writing, Library, Drama, Dance, Streetdance and Festive Arts and Crafts. The pupils also have the opportunity to take part in a range of local and national competitions as well as participating in regional dance, art and music festivals.
Our school caters for boys and girls aged 4-11 years of age. At present, there are over 280 children on roll. Each of our 11 classes is based in their own classroom and facilities include a Computing Room, Art Room, Library, a Dance Studio as well as enjoying easy access to a spacious field.
Our pupils usually join the school in our Reception Class in the autumn term after their fourth birthday. The children remain with us until the end of Year 6 (age 11 years) when they transfer to secondary school, usually Sharnbrook Academy. Our class teachers are responsible for the children’s welfare and delivery of the curriculum as the children progress through the school.
As the Academy Principal, I firmly believe that the success of a child’s education is very much dependent on a supportive and respectful partnership between the school, parents, carers, families and the local community. We operate an “open door” policy and parents and visitors are always welcome. My door is always open, please feel free to call in, come for a chat or stop me on the playground at the beginning or end of the school day. I’ll be happy to listen and am eager to hear your views.
The children are at the heart of all we do in Harrold Primary Academy and their needs are at the forefront of all our plans and at the heart of the school’s ethos.
If you would like to visit the school, please make an appointment through the school’s office – we look forward to meeting you.
