Music
Music is all around us and Harrold Primary Academy intends to develop confident, creative musicians, who enjoy listening to, experimenting with, and performing a wide range of music. We aim to enrich the lives of every pupil with a love of music.
Responsibility: Children are given the opportunity to create their own music through collaboration and improvisation. Children perform their own creations both independently and with their peers.
Readiness: Children are able to listen to and engage with a range of different musical genres, ready to use music to connect with people and places in our ever changing world.
Respect: Children work collaboratively, engaging with the ideas of others and can respectfully discuss and critic the impact of different music.
Resilience: Children become accomplished composers and can confidently edit and improve their compositions.
In Years 3 or 4, each class begins a whole-class instrumental programme lasting a minimum of one term. The term is supported by teachers from the Bedford Music Education Hub. This year, children in Year 3 and Year 4 are learning the djembe drum, Year 5 children are learning the ukulele and Year 6 are learning the steel drums.
